Here’s a new roundup of new finds for fall!
New Finds For Fall
I am always looking for new things to share with you all, and it’s been a while since I did a new finds roundup! Here is my fall 2024 list of products, services, and fun things I’ve stumbled upon (including a few I do not recommend!).
Avaline Wine
About a year ago, I was talking to a sommelier about how randomly wines affected me. Sometimes I could have a glass or two and sleep great / feel great, and other times I felt terrible while I was still drinking. She pointed out that the problem likely wasn’t the wine itself but the additives used. Since then, I have shopped and sipped mostly Italian and French wines since they have some of the strictest purity laws out there. And it has worked, especially considering I mostly ordered California / USA wine in the past.
“Clean wine” has been on my radar for years though, and Avaline wines are a new-to-me brand by Cameron Diaz. They are dedicated to all the good things: organic grapes, purity, transparency, and sustainability. And so far – no bad feelings!! The night of or even overnight/the next day. I am not picky with my wine taste, but they are on par or better than all the great wines out there. My biggest request: a canned / single serving version!!
Avaline gave me a promo code to share: Use OCT15 with my link for 15% off sitewide
Songs of The Beatles
Calling all Beatles lovers! My mom’s art show, Songs of The Beatles, is on display now through December 5 at the Hillsborough Visitors Center at 150 E. King St. Read an article all about my mom’s art show this fall here!
Each of the pieces represents a different Beatles song – I bought the bottom record here – “I Saw Her Standing There.”
If you aren’t local, you can purchase mom’s artwork from the collection directly by emailing Mike’s Art Truck.
Rula: Virtual Therapy
My brother-in-law, Matt, works for Rula and he told me all about it when we were at Bear Lake Reserve. I want to share Rula with you all as a convenient way to get started with a therapist or psychiatrist. We all know how hard it is to find in-network providers, and so many in-person therapists are totally booked up for months. Rula solves this problem by offering virtual sessions from a network of 10,000+ licensed providers representing more than 80 clinical specialties and a diverse array of backgrounds. I went through the scheduling flow, and it took me less than 2 minutes to book a session with a provider that had availability in as little as 48 hours.
I love that you can read the bios and areas of speciality for each provider. You can filter for a provider across 10+ races, 8+ genders, and 40+ languages and input a large variety of areas of need such as anxiety and depression, mid-life, and even couples and family counseling. The best part – all Rula providers are in-network with almost all heath insurance companies. If you’ve been wanting to start therapy but haven’t been able to make it work logistically, check out this video or the Rula website to learn more.
Target Bedding!
I have been eyeing these green botanical sheets for a long time! I finally bit the bullet and bought them. This is my third set of the Target Performance Sheets that are so soft and nice for the price. The linen duvet cover is also new – I couldn’t resist because it’s Birch-ish and has a zip closure. I will never buy button closures again!
Also spotted at Target: this snake pitcher is so pretty. I might go back for it. Birch loved the pirate plates!
Knock At The Cabin
I recently read the book The Cabin at the End of the World. Wish I could say I recommend it, but man it had a disappointing ending. So many questions went unanswered! But I thought the movie, which was an M. Night Shyamalan interpretation, was much better. The next book in line: Ruth Ware’s One Perfect Couple!
Cleaning Putty
I bought this cleaning putty for the car after seeing it online. But I gotta say, I don’t think it works nearly as well as a vacuum and some spray with a cloth. Not to worry though because the kids have claimed it as their “car slime” for now : )
Tattoo Pen
Another disappointment: This tattoo pen. I was SO excited to try drawing something myself and it smudged during the night. I’m not sure how! Now I just have a semi-smudged 26 on my arm. I’m going to try it on a more out-of-the-way area next.
Rummikub
A big win – travel Rummikub! This is my favorite game! And this little travel set is perfect for taking it on a trip, to a brewery, or to the playground. I left my big box version at Bald Head!
Oliveda Internals
I finally got my hands on two of Oliveda’s ?Beauty Elixirs??. Just like the skincare, the elixirs are also formulated with Hydroxytyrosol – an incredibly potent antioxidant derived from the olive tree, which helps protect your skin from oxidative stress and promotes a youthful, radiant complexion.
Each elixir combines Hydroxytyrosol with other natural ingredients like Camu Camu, rich in vitamin C, bioactive collagen peptides and hyaluronic acid to enhance skin hydration, elasticity, boost collagen and overall health.
I70 BEAUTY MOLECULE??
The I70 is a unique vegan beauty superbooster, combining hydroxytyrosol with hyaluronic acid, lavender, Camu Camu and turmeric for a fresh, youthful complexion. The benefits of liquid hyaluronic acid include hydrating the skin, smoothing lines, accelerating wound healing, improve skin elasticity, strengthens skin’s natural barriers, and calming properties that can help reduce redness and inflammation.
Remember the POM Wonderful pomegranate juice? This one is like a thicker version of that! It tastes good – like berries. Take a shot a day.
??I01 HYDROXYTYROSOL + CAMU CAMU OLIVE LEAF CONCENTRATE?
This supplement is an immune system booster packed full of up to 3000-fold higher concentration of antioxidants than is found in olive oil. Per the website, combining hydroxytyrosol with camu camu provides a powerful antioxidant synergy, offering superior protection against oxidative stress and free radicals. The high vitamin C content in Camu Camu, combined with the anti-inflammatory properties of hydroxytyrosol, can significantly enhance immune function.
I think it tastes like wine! It’s a little bit bitter; a little bit sweet. I squirt it right in my mouth after lunch for a palette cleanser. Birch likes it, too!
Fly By Jing Noodles
I first tried the Fly By Jing sauces earlier this summer, and they just sent me their new NOODLES! Noodle kits were their most requested product. Think of them as a very fancy and delicious ramen.
The texture of the noodles is incredible – so much chewy texture. They are full of flavor but also are quite spicy so be warned about that. I added some wilted arugula to make them an all-in-one meal. Guess who also loves them? Mazen!
Rocky Mountain Throat Syrup
Thomas bought this throat syrup sometime over the summer when a cold was going through our house. I absolutely swear by it now that I’ve used it several times. You know that tingle when you can feel a cold starting in your throat? Several times I think this has helped me fight it off before it takes hold. Add this to your medicine cabinet “just in case!”
Winter Travel
We just booked some flights and hotels on points for a winter trip we’re taking with the kids! If you’re itching to take a trip but don’t have tons of cash on hand, consider using points! I have a blog post all about how to get started here and my favorite travel cards listed here.
That’s all folks!
